Ontario Ministry of the Environment

Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is tasked with protecting the province’s environment. This includes clean and safe air, land and water to ensure healthy communities, ecological protection and sustainable development for present and future generations of Ontarians.

These days, much of the ministry’s focus is on climate change, a phrase which encompasses all of the effects people have on climate systems including changes in temperature, wind patterns and precipitation.

To that end, since the launch of its first Climate Change Action Plan in 2007, the ministry has introduced numerous programs to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
