Neighbourhood Watch Website

A Web site that’s easy to use and administer for local chapters

Everybody’s heard of Neighbourhood Watch, but the organization lacked a conduit to make itself heard to its stakeholders and members. We met this challenge through the creation of an extensive Web site with both public and secure areas following strategy sessions with the sponsor and community partner, Aviva Canada.

Objectives
Neighbourhood Watch had a first-generation Web site that they had outgrown.

They needed a site that was easy to administer by non-programmers that would:
• Allow local chapter heads to talk to their members
• Allow an administrator to create new chapters based on police approval
• Allow the police forces to communicate with chapters and chapter members

Goal
A flexible Web site that would keep up with the growth of the organization and allow authorized Neighbourhood Watch groups to update information and send out bulletins as required.

Solution
Context worked with Neighbourhood Watch to provide them with a Content Management System that was customized to their specific requirements. We designed the architecture to allow several layers of authorization, public and secure private areas, and email capabilities.

The project included:
• Development of strategy, all graphic layouts, architecture and copywriting
• A customized CMS with various authorization levels

Results
• Neighbourhood Watch now has a site that can easily grow with their requirements
• Intuitive functionality allows for a smooth “train the trainer” process
• Notification time for any group targeted for messaging dropped significantly
• The number of groups registered in the program increased
• A stronger Neighbourhood Watch brand in Canada
