Mountainview Conservation and Breeding Centre

The Mountain View Conservation and Breeding Centre is home to over 50 endangered and rare animal species. Set in the temperate rainforest near Fort Langley, British Columbia, Gordon and Yvonne Blankstein founded the centre to breed the animals, many from Africa and Asia, and reintroduce them into their homelands.

Objectives
Important work is being done at Mountain View but their mission is challenging and expensive. The centre benefits greatly from donations and volunteerism. The objective was to educate and attract visitors, potential donors and volunteers.

Goal
Our goal was to build a Web site that would create awareness of the centre, increase the potential for partnerships, animal “adoptions” and draw the support of donors and volunteers. We also wanted to ensure that non-tech staff could update and maintain it.

Solution
We knew that there was no better way to grab attention than to feature these spectacular animals. Fortunately, Mountain View has a good relationship with an exceptional photographer, Tim King who provided dozens of evocative photos.

Project Scope
Researched, recommended and implemented a highly affordable technology platform ($29 per month, no up-front costs)

We provided:
• Creative direction, all design and copywriting
• Search engine optimization techniques throughout the site
• Built the first generation of the site and trained our client to update it

Results
Traffic has increased substantially and the site is regularly updated by staff. In addition to providing fresh information, this improves search engine rankings, particularly in Google. The site is now a platform for growth, partnership and commerce.
