Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario Website

Building interactivity the simple way
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for ensuring the province’s gaming and liquor laws are followed. They regulate the sale, service and consumption of beverage alcohol, and the operation of casinos and charitable gaming in Ontario.

Objectives
The AGCO needed a more efficient way to make available the documents required by those who operate a licensed establishment, want to open one, or make changes to an existing one. Previously, it would require a trip to a local office to get the appropriate paperwork.

Goal
Design a Web site with intuitive navigation to allow the AGCO’s clients to quickly find and download the appropriate forms.

Solution
The architecture of the site was designed to provide easy access to all required documents for any given task. User testing of the navigation system ensured ease of use. Over 100 forms were converted to interactive PDFs for easier scanning and processing.

Results
The site has replaced the need for a number of local offices. This has become the way of doing business with the AGCO. Higher cost phone and in-person inquiries have dropped accordingly, resulting in substantial savings.
